NSW captures Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay title: Australia State Teams Age Group SC Championships
Day two of the 2011 Australia State Teams Age Group Short Course Championships got-off to a strong start with the impressive performance of New South Wales’ swimmers in Canberra, Australia, on Sunday, September 18.
The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay final heat, where NSW’s squad of Jake Hodgetts, Edward Marks, Peter Topalidis and Jayke Rees hit the wall in 3 minutes and 25.38 seconds to win the gold medal.
In the corresponding race, Ryan Parker, Ho Ka Kwong, Phillip Soalheira and Max Muggeridge of QLD earned silver medal on the podium by posting a winning time of 3 minutes and 27.53 seconds. VIC’s team of Lachlan Wells, Jack Currie, Nicholas Groenewald and
Mack Horton secured bronze medal on the podium by submitting a matchless time of 3 minutes and 27.61 seconds.
QLD finished fourth in a time of 3 minutes and 36.87 seconds, while NSW settled in fifth in a time of 3 minutes and 37.21 seconds. WA earned sixth place honours in a time of 3 minutes and 37.74 seconds. VIC wound up seventh in a time of 3 minutes and 42.66
seconds, while WA settled eighth in a time of 3 minutes and 45.52 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 800m freestyle crown was taken over by Chelse Gubecka of QLD with a winning mark of 8 minutes and 45.35 seconds. In the corresponding swim, Chelse Gillett of QLD secured silver medal on the podium by posting an immaculate time
of 8 minutes and 50.23 seconds. Emil Camenzuli of VIC earned bronze title by submitting an impressive time of 9 minutes and 02.00 seconds.
Kate Laidlaw of VIC was placed fourth in a time of 9 minutes and 08.12 seconds, while Grace Hull of WA finished fifth in 9 minutes and 10.22 seconds. Logan Bristow of WA settled sixth in a time of 9 minutes and 11.55 seconds.
The arena gave a huge ovation to all participants of the meet and the winners were awarded accolades after the session’s completion.
