  1. You should have told the nurse. They are professionals and they know what is best. Contact your doctor. A little embarrassment is better than not being alive for it.

  2. You should of called for the nurse immediateley when your symptoms started and yes it was very wrong to adjust the IV rate and don't do it again.  Why? there may of been medication in the IV solution that had to be delivered within a certain time period. Also tiny air bubbles will not harm you and IV pumps will alarm if there is air in the IV tubing. You could also had an allergic reaction to any medication in the IV so the next time it happens the only thing I want you to touch is your call bell. Nurses are  there to help you, so press that button.  You sound very scared also.  You didn't state what you were in the hopital for and why you are receiving IV fluids. Take care, Nurses care

  3. Definitely tell your care giver what you are experiencing and DON'T MESS WITH THE IV SETTINGS.  I don't know your situation, but if that is how they are distributing your meds you can s***w all kinds of things up.  Tell your nurse or doctor exactly what is going on, what you did and why you did it.  I'm sure they'll be understanding.

Anyways, don't worry about air bubbles too much.  You can take an entire IV line worth of air before you'll start getting negative side effects.
