NY/Canada Customs pass?

my boyfriend is going to be doing some work in Canada and he refuses to get a passport (yeah, don't ask...) anyway I know that there is some program or card or pass thing that you can use to get over the border much quicker than waiting in line for hours. I know it starts with an N but I can't remember what it's called (I hate it when that happens!). Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how to apply for a pass? FYI if you're going into Niagra Falls via Buffalo, NY it's in the far left hand lane.

  1. The program you're referring to is called NEXUS. It is very useful for people who cross the border frequently, but the process of applying for a NEXUS card is more laborious than for just a passport. They do extensive background checks on all applicants, and you must present yourself for an interview to ultimately be approved. For more information visit: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/truste...

  2. It's called a NEXUS card.

you can find the information here http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/truste...

However, a passport is easier and cheaper to get.  NEXUS can be a pain in the @ss. I know someone who got denied one (he's 35) because he had a petty theft charge on his record from when he was 17. (he stole a chocolate bar)
