This is for people who live in ny since car inspection has different rules in different states. Anyways I'm looking to buy a second hand car from a private seller in the next couple of months, but heres my question if they just got the car inspected in the last couple of months, do I still need to get the car inspected once I buy it or does their inspection transfer to me. Please people with experience. Thanks

  1. Yes, you will need to and should get the vehicle re-inspected.  It's for your protection and safety.  The previous owner's inspection does not transfer to you.  When you register the vehicle at the dmv, they will provide you with a 10-day temporary inspection sticker.
