Considering that my fiance is fresh out of college with his bachelors in information systems technology, that I am in the process of getting my B.A in intercultural communications, (and need to find a good school in that field to transfer to), and that we have a one year old little girl, which of the 3 cities sounds like the best place to settle down in?

  1. I would say Houston because it's the most economical choice of the three.

But NYC has the most job and growth opportunities, hands down. And NY is a fantastic place to raise a child. There's no shortage of things to do and you still have Central Park when you need your green space.

NYC is expensive as far as apartments. But Brooklyn can be just as nice, and definitely more affordable. I have a friend with a 4 year old in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) and she loves it.

    Good luck!

  2. Houston is the best as far as starting a family is concerned.  Both NYC and Atlanta have a problem where safe neighborhoods border dangerous ones, making them unfit to raise a child.  Also, it is much easier to get ahead in Houston than it will in Atlanta or NYC.

  3. My recommendation would be Atlanta or Houston. I have never been to Houston, but it is the largest city in Texas and has some of the cheapest gas. I really like Atlanta and would probably pick it (good airport, convenient to the east coast and gulf coast, lot's to do).

In your position I would definitely NOT move to nyc. New York is VERY VERY expensive (more than most people really realize). You will end up sacrificing a lot of your quality of life just so that you can say that you live in New York. Add a baby to the mix and I doubt that you guys will be able to afford it without lots of help from your parents. If you don't believe me, go to nybits.com and check how much the apartments are going for. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

And for what it's worth, I live in Manhattan. However, I am not fresh out of college.

  4. HOUSTON! I love houston its an amazing place to live!! True not the most intensely scenic place but its got tons of great people, shopping, schools, you name it its awesome and a short drive away from lakes and other great stuff I loved it!

  5. NYC is very expensive to live in, i dont think Atlanta is the best place for your degree.

Houston sounds the best there is a boom in employment and opportunity in Houston and there are nice homes in the suburbs, if you end up not liking houston try San Antonio there is less unemployment and alot of job opportunities there than the other cities and the city is a gourgous where the past meets the present.

  6. I am from TX, and would say Houston just bc it isnt as busy as the other 2 cities.

  7. Go Houston. You can't afford the other two places
