Would I be a better candidate with a bachelors degree, or an associates degree plus a few years of military experience?

You will get veterans preference points with military experience, that will probably be a better bet to get your foot in the door. You may even be able to finish your bachelors in the military.

you would always be a better candidate with a bachelor's degree. this would surely give you an advantage at hire and when future promotions arise.

the military will always be a plus, because it shows that your are disciplined and can also take orders, which police departments like in an employee.
