When you are taking the road test in New York State, or I guess in any state, for that matter, when you do the 3-point-turn, how are you supposed to use your blinkers? When you move close to the curb to turn left, do you put on your left blinker and then when you are backing up, you put on your right?

  1. yes use your sigals

  2. Step 1:

With no traffic behind you or coming toward you, put your blinker on to turn to the right or left until you are perpendicular to the street.

    Step 2:

Put the car in reverse. Back up straight across to the other side of the street as far as possible.

    Step 3:

Put the car in drive or, in manual cars, first gear. Check traffic again.

    Step 4:

Turn the wheel all the way in the direction you want to go, and step on the gas lightly to complete the turn.

    Step 5:

Straighten yourself in the lane and drive away.

  3. Put on your right blinker to show that you are pulling to the right out of traffic, and then your left, to warn any traffic coming from in back, and also oncoming that you are pulling out.
