NZ Cricket to look into captaincy saga – Cricket News Update
As the team departs for their tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket’s chairman, Chris Moller, has stated the board will look into the captaincy debate before making a definitive call.
In a controversial move, NZ board decided to strip http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 to lead the side across all formats.
The suggestion had been put forward by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mike-J-Hesson-c76286, the current Kiwi Head Coach, during that Lankan tour, where he supposedly wanted to Taylor to carry on leading the Test side in a joint captaincy with McCullum, who would take over the shorter version reins.
That offer was publically refused by the former, who further decided to take a break from International cricket. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 also revealed his side of the story, where he openly questioned Hesson’s man-management skills by stating that the Head Coach, who had
taken over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883 in August this year, never supported him.
After discussing matters with both parties, NZC released a statement where they confirmed McCullum as their new captain, while further apologized to Taylor and his family for the way the issue caught the public eye. The saga has already forced former Kiwi
legend http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Martin-David-Crowe-c74854 to quit from his role as the talent hunt manager.
While CEO David White made all the calls, it was now Chris Moller’s turn to confront the media, where he revealed that the board has indeed found extra material on the whole saga but were not in a position to blame anyone.
"As has already been extensively canvassed by the media, there were a number of shortcomings and the New Zealand Cricket Board and Chief Executive take full responsibility for these," Moller said in a press conference in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864.
"However as we sit here in front of you today we are in possession of some additional material that will need to be followed up on.
"As a consequence and I know you going to be frustrated by this, we are unable today to add anything that has already been said publicly by the CEO and the Black Caps coach concerning the captaincy issues."
