NZC officially apologises to Ross Taylor – Cricket News Update
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has officially apologised to Ross Taylor for the way he was stripped off the captaincy last week and hopes that things will be handled in a better manner in future.
On the recommendation of the coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, who refused to retain his Test leadership as well. In New Zealand’s
last Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at Colombo, the cricketer from Wellington led his team to victory through a hundred and a half-century in the two innings respectively.
The 28-year-old cricketer also withdrew his services from the upcoming tour of South Africa, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 taking charge of the team in all three formats of the game.
NZC chairman, Chris Moller, while talking to the reporters in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864, read an official statement, admitting the mistake.
He said, “The board has reviewed all aspects of the captaincy issue and wishes to publicly place on record its apologies to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 and his family for the manner in which events have unfolded.”
Muller further added that the situation could have been handled better but hopes that such a mistake will not be repeated in future.
“There are no hanging offences in all of this,” he said. “Yes, the ball's been dropped, absolutely. Could we have done things better? Absolutely. Are we going to learn from those mistakes, well we hope so.”
The controversially-removed captain has accepted the apology through a tweet and hopes to return to international cricket in future.
“I appreciate the apology from NZC today,” he tweeted. “Keen to put it behind me and looking forward to getting back with the team soon.”
Taylor has already scored more than seven thousand runs at the highest stage of the game, with the help of 14 centuries and according to most sporting analysts, the right-hander is the best Kiwi batsman at the present moment.
His absence is surely going to hamper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the forthcoming series, which includes three T20s, as many One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a couple of Tests. The battle begins
with the first T20 International on December 21, at the Kingsmead, Durban.
