Na Yeon Choi notches up season-ending title in Florida
South Korean Na Yeon Choi stood firm in the final round of the season-ending CME Group Titleholders 2012, as she posted an overall score of 274 to win the tournament.
The final round of the four-round tournament, held at The TwinEagles Club, Florida, saw Choi and fellow South Korean So Yeon Ryu fought a nerve-jangling battle as the two contenders carded
a 70 each.
However, on the back of a good performance in the first and second round that saw Choi shoot a 67 and 68 respectively, she subdued Ryu by two strokes.
At the start of the tournament, it was not Choi who grabbed the attention as she was standing tied for the fourth position after carding a 67 on Thursday. But as the season finale stretched
into its second and third day, it became apparent that the South Korean star was ready to take the battle to the end, with her head held high.
She could not make an impressive start in the fourth round on Sunday, as she parred the first two holes and messed up on the greens of par-4 third, carding a double bogey.
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) titan then picked up pace and launched an eagle on the par-5 5th. She once again amazed the American spectators after she sank a
birdie-putt on the 7th hole.
With one bogey on the difficult par-3 8th and a double bogey on the 3rd hole, Choi vowed not to repeat the same mistakes on the back nine. She shot birdies on the 12th
and 16th, bringing her score to a 70 for the round.
Speaking to the media about her performance in the tournament, Choi said that she was confident right from the start, and did not make major slip-ups.
“I feel really great and I really satisfied how I played, not just this week, this season.  And my mom's here just for this week and she just saw first time I won the tournament overseas,”
said Choi who won her first title for the 2012 season at the US Women’s Open in July.
“I really ‑‑ actually like even U.S. Open, when I won the U.S. Open, I was really missing my parents”.
