Na Yeon Choi rises to third position in world rankings

South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who finished tied for the third position at CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, has clawed her way up to the third position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Choi has been in tough competition against her nearest rivals in world rankings, and has seen her position move up and down frequently in the past few weeks.
The South Korean star also snatched the second position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings a few weeks ago, but could not stand her ground as she was overtaken by Stacy Lewis of the United States.
Choi’s nearest rivals are Lewis and Chinese Shanshan Feng. Feng was standing strong at the third spot before the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, however, a solid finish from Choi dragged her down to the fourth.
Choi has repeatedly vowed to take the first position in world rankings, which analysts have said, seems difficult at the moment.
Analysts said Yani Tseng, who has stood firm at the number one position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings for several months now, appears to enjoy a considerable lead against all her rivals.
Having earned total points of 687.56 in the rankings table, Tseng seems hard to beat and will likely rule the headlines in the coming weeks.
Analysts, however, pointed out that having massive points does not mean that Tseng is indomitable because a surprise breakthrough from Lewis, Choi and Feng cannot be ruled out.
Choi’s performance in the CN Canadian Women’s Open, which was held at the Vancouver Golf Club, as she made perfect strokes on almost all the holes she played. Her putting looked much better than it did in previous
tournaments in the current season.
Choi won her first major title at the US Women’s Open 2012 in July, which has helped her boost confidence and rankings in the last few weeks.
“That was very amazing.  Still it's like some people say congratulations on winning the U.S. Open, I mean, that was almost more than one month ago still lot of people thinking about me and congratulating me.
So I'm really happy and appreciative of them,” the South Korean golfer said.
“You know, like Se Ri won 1998, and I watched that on TV when I was 10 years old.  My dream was just being there and trying to play on the LPGA Tour”.
