Na Yeon Choi tied for the fourth position at LPGA Founders Cup
After attaining the second position at the HSBC Women's Champions, Na Yeon Choi is playing well at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup.
The first round finished on Thursday, at the Wildfire Golf Club, J.W Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.
The 24-year-old South Korean professional displayed a remarkable performance throughout the day and tied for the fourth position with four other players.
Choi currently holds the second position in women’s worldwide rankings and is delivering her best in Arizona.
The 2011 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia winner is confident to record impressive wins this year as well. "I finished as runner-up in Singapore, and then I think I got some confidence from that," Choi said.
Choi’s swing, performance and strokes have improved considerably now. She has been working hard since 2011 and now has substantial command over most of the aspects.
After the HSBC Women's Champions, she visited Korea and found her coach impressed by her leading performances.
"I went to my coach in Korea last week, and he said my swing looks great, and everything is working great," Choi said.
She opened the round by carding a bogey, but from the second hole she played tremendous till day-end.
Choi scored two consecutive birdies on hole-2 and 3. She finished the day by scoring six impressive birdies in total and 5-under 67.
Pernilla Lindberg, Karen Stupples, Hee Kyung Seo and Christine Song are currently sharing the fourth position with her.
Their competitive strokes and enormous scoring helped them to be among the top-5 on the leaderboard.
Hee Young Park and Yani Tseng are the current leaders of the tournament. Their enormous scoring and impressive birdies took them to the leading position.
They scored 7-under 65 and played well throughout the day.
Jiyai Shin is holding the second position and she is only one-stroke behind the two leaders. She recorded a bogey-free round and scored 6-under 66.
"Well, I like the desert course for looking," Shin said with a laugh. "It looks beautiful, and yeah, I think I do (like desert golf), because I have good confidence with sand".
The second round will take place on Friday and Choi has ample chances to card more birdies. She is competing well against the other field members and is delivering her best in the current year.
