Ligue 2 side, AS Monaco made one of the biggest coup of the transfer market when they signed Moroccan international Nabil Dirar for 7.5 million Euros from Belgian giants Club Brugge
In the final hours of this winter’s transfer window, French Ligue 2 strugglers, AS Monaco made probably the biggest transfer coup of this January when they secured the services of Moroccan international Nabil Dirar.
The club Monegasque paid Belgian giants Club Brugge 7.5 million Euros for the services of the 25-year-old.
If the arrival of the Moroccan has been in relative anonymity in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, his departure from Club Brugge has caused an outcry, particularly within the Belgian club. At Brugge, Dirar was an undisputed starter in the current squad of the Jupiler Pro League side for four seasons.
Dirar leaves a side that’s in second place in the standings for a side that will most surely be fighting for survival in Ligue 2.
German coach of Blauw Zwart openly expressed his displeasure at the transfer after he tried in vain to hold on to the player. Before he left Brugge, Dirar had scored three goals and had 13 assists to his name so understandably, Brugge coach Christoph Daum was dismayed to see the back of the former Westerlo man.
Nabil Dirar, while talking to journalist took a pretty fair view of what has been written in papers in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850. The Moroccan spoke in plain words about his reasons for signing for AS Monaco rather than going to the Russian Premier League where an unnamed club also made an offer for him.
“I understand that the coach is unhappy. I’m sorry. I wish him and all my teammates the best for the future. But I could not refuse this offer. For financial reasons obviously, but that was not it! Monaco is a club with a rich tradition and eight years ago, reached the final of the Champions League.”
Despite what people in Belgium claim as a step backward, Dirar says that he knows his new club can quickly return to Ligue 1. Dirar also said that he is in at Monaco for the long haul.
