Nacarat in a great shape to defend his title in the Racing Plus Chase Handicap on 25th February
The Grade 3 Racing Plus Chase Handicap, raced over three miles is to held at Kempton on Saturday, 25th February. The £56, 950 purse race has attracted ten runners who are to battle for the title today.
Planet Of Sound, Kayf Tara’s ten-year-old bay gelding out of mare Herald The Dawn, is trained by Philip Hobbs. The gelding is being bet on quite feverishly and has notched up to the top of the list.
He has been entered as a favourite multiple times through his four year career and the last time he posted a victory was on 21st April, 2010 in the Grade 1 Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup at Punchestown over three miles and a furlong with seventeen fences.
Ridden by Richard Johnson, Planet Of Sound won by a lead of 3 ½ lengths on the field of eleven contesting.
During 2011, Planet Of Sound only raced twice and the best that he could manage was a second position in the Grade 3 Hennessy Gold Cup on 26th November 2011 at Newbury. The race was won by Carruthers who was leading by 3 ¾ lengths while the 9/2 favourite of the race, Aiteen Thirtythree, was positioned eleventh on the track of eighteen battling for the wire.
A break of more than three months must have made Planet Of Sound well rested with ample time to prepare for his 2012 debut.
Another betting favourite on the lineup is Nacarat, Smadoun’s eleven-year-old grey gelding out of mare Gerbora, is also up for cracking into the new season today.
The reason that the eleven-year-old is to pose threat on the field today is because of the near ideal weight that he has reached recently. Besides, in the 2010, Nacarat was right at the heels of the winner of the same race, missing it by a highly insignificant and negligible margin.
On 27th February 2010, Nacarat was second in the Grade 3 Racing Post Chase Handicap at Kempton. He missed the three miles race by a neck’s disadvantage to the winner, Razor Royale.
The Grade 3 Racing Post Chase on 21st February 2009, declared Nacarat the victor of the three miles challenge against the 7/2 favourite, Big Fella Thanks who finished third after the winner.
