Nacarat pointed for the Betfred Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at Aintree
Besides racing Desperate Dex and Bid Fella Thanks in the Betfred Becher Handicap Chase, trainer, Tom George, has selected the Betfred Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at Aintree On Sunday for Nacarat.
"The plan is to run him. That's what we're aiming for. He jumped the National fences once before and absolutely loved it," said trainer Tom George.
"It's not easy putting him in conditions races. He's rated 160 and he's a Grade One winner, so he would have to carry a penalty in those races.
"Last time he went there he loved it, so we thought we'd go there again.
"He's OK on softish, fresh ground, but we wouldn't want it heavy and I don't think it's going to be. There's a big difference between fresh ground that's soft and chewed-up ground.
"As long as the ground doesn't deteriorate we'll be OK."
Smadoun’s eleven-year-old grey gelding, Nacarat, penetrated the new season with the Grade 2 Betfred Monet’s Garden Old Roan Chase (Limited Handicap) on 27th October, 2012 at Aintree race course over two miles and four furlongs.
He ended sixth in the line-up of eleven while racing with jockey, Paddy Brennan.
The race was won by the Nick Williams’ trained, For Non Stop, who had rider, Noel Fehily, onboard. He won by a good twenty-three lengths.
Not really displeased with the performance of the grey gelding out of, Gerbora, the connections want him to give another shot in the form of the target that they have set for him.
The last time that he landed the race was on 25th February, 2012 at Kempton race course over three miles in the Grade 3 Racing Plus Chase (Handicap).
The connections are convinced that their under charge has a thing for jumps and can do way better over them when given a chance. The rest of the contestants for the race are not listed yet, but the competition of course will be the sort that he will need
to buck up and really pull back into form for accomplishing what he has not been able to since a while now.
His odds for landing the race have not been declared by any betting exchange yet, but then neither have they shown up for the rest competing.
