Nacer Barazite wants Rangers loan move
Arsenal youngster Nacer Barazite has revealed he wants to move to the Rangers on loan after impressing while on trial with the Scottish Premier League champions. The winger shone as the Rangers fielded a team of second-string players in a 2-1 friendly defeat against Glentoran.
Barazite told Rangers’ official website after the game that he was looking to join up with Rangers and feature in their UEFA Champions League campaign. He said tha "moving to Rangers would be good for me. It would be a step forward, not back, because they are a very big club and they play in the Champions League."
'Level of ability'
He played for 77 minutes in the Glentoran game, and coach Ian Durrant said "considering he has only had a week of pre-season training, I thought Nacer did well. You can see he has got a level of ability. Having come from Arsenal, we knew that anyway and he showed up in parts of the match as a very good football player.”
Durrant revealed the club are looking to get the 20-year-old player up to full match fitness and assess him properly before deciding whether to snap him up on a season-long loan. The coach said: “once he gets a level of fitness over the next 10 days or so, I think we will be in a better position to judge. Hopefully we can work on Nacer over the next few weeks and get him to the point where we can perhaps do something."
Barazite has featured three times for the first team at Arsenal after appearing in the Carling Cup twice in the 2007-08 season and once more in the 2009-10 season. He spent the 2008-09 season on loan with Football League Championship club Derby County and netted once in 30 league games. He has also featured for the Holland national team at Under-21 level.
