Nacer Bouhanni closing in at the Vuelta a Espana overall classifications

Nacer Bouhanni of Team FDJ-Big Mat is riding the Vuelta a Espana with the point’s classifications as his major target.
However, the French is not content with his current performance and hopes to take his performance to the next level in the coming stages of the race.
The cyclist has done considerably well in the first 11 stages of the race and currently holds the seventh overall position with 57 points to his credit.
John Degenkolb of Team Argos-Shimano currently leads the category with 103 points while Alejandro Valverde of Team Movistar, Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver of Team Katusha and Christopher Froome of Team Sky Procycling holds the second, the third and the fourth
positions respectively.
Alberto Contador of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank, Daniele Bennati of Team RadioShack-Nissan at the fifth and the sixth positions in the respective order.
“I came here with the goal of winning a stage,” Bouhanni told L’Equipe.
“I’ve been fourth here twice already and I really feel that a victory is in within my grasp. Finishing second on a stage of Vuelta might seem good but I don’t want to be satisfied with that”.
“There aren’t a lot of opportunities left. If I want to win, I’ll have to approach it differently”.
Bouhanni is enjoying a terrific form and has registered numerous victories right through the start of the season.
Some of his top performances this year include the first place finish at the National Road Race Championships.
He claimed the first overall position at the Circuit De Lorraine 2012 and also managed to grab a stage victory, the point’s classifications and the young rider classifications at the event.
The 22-year-old finished first at the Halle-Ingooigem 2012 and claimed a stage each at the Etoile de Besseges and the Tour de Wallonie.
“It’s true that his really strong but he’s benefiting from a team perfectly built around him, and the rest becomes easy for him,” he said of Degenkolb.
Bouhanni briefed that John definitely has an advantage of his strong team but also believes that there are still at least two more stages and he might get a chance to clash swords with the German as the race approaches in the final week.
