Question:

Nadal's dominance <---> left handed-ness?

I'm willing to say that Nadal would be about....75% or less the player if he was right handed.

One of his major game plans is to pound that huge lefty forehand cross-court to right handers backhands which end up collapsing due to the depth, speed and spin, especially one handers (Federer!).

Also, since he is naturally right-handed, his two handed backhand has more strength since, for those who play know, the off hand actually has a greater roll on two-handed shots.

What do you think? Looks like his uncle Tony knew what he was doing!

  1. Yes of course nadal will dominate right handed players because he was trained to beat right handed players because he was a lefty.

  2. I think you answered your own question.

    I agree with you almost 100% (not sure I'd go as high as 75%)

  3. I have played tennis for 8 years and I am a lefty. It does give you an advantage, but 75% is too low, especially since Nadal is very ambidextrous. I'd say 90-95%.

  4. Well, the switch to lefty was not really on purpose. You see, when Nadal was younger he hit two-handed forehands and two-handed backhands. There are only a few people in the world that are really good at that. He may have tried to develope a one-handed backhand at an early time, and the lefty change was an experiment..? I don't know
