during the gold medal final, he didnt fidget with his socks as much, but he bounced the ball like 8-10 times. altho he's still taking an awful lot time serving, does this mean that he's taking a serious approach in changing this part of his game? does it mean that he'll already control his butt-picking?

i like nadal but i cringe every time he does that.

  1. i love rafa, but the unwedging is really... hay... its a habit already so i think it will be a long time before he stops it, that is if he will ever quit unwedging. he is a very superstitious guy, with water bottles placement, him never shaving in a tournament, so on and so forth. but his not fixing his socks anymore, he not hitting the soles of his feet with the racket anymore, he's trying to serve faster to please people that are saying that he takes too long...

  2. I don't think he will get rid of his butt picking habit!!

  3. His routine's part of what makes him so unique and special! His sprint after the toss, his towel wiping after EVER point, his drink from one cold and one hot water bottle, his socks, his shorts picking - EVERYTHING! I don't think any other player in tennis history does what he does. :)

  4. FYI Nadal hasnt been playing with his socks before a serve almost all year now.  He got rid of that habit.  Everyone calls it "butt picking".  If you take notice, he's not butt picking, he is clearly pulling down a wedgy on the left cheek that he has been doing since he is at least 17 years old.

All people of their idiosyncrasies and he has a few.  His bottles at his chair, he always goes for the towel, he starts the beginning of the match the same, he walks on court with racquet in his left hand.

So if these things help him to play great, then as far as I'm concerned, he can do them as much as he wants!!

Go to link below when he was 17 and you'll catch a glimpse of his wedgy pulling.

    Vamos Rafa!1

  6. It's superstition i don't think he will change it.
