  1. yes, and that was very sweet, cause he's friends with roger and he respects him a lot, that's why he didn't celebrate so much when he won.-

i thought i was really nice of rafa, and don't think other players would've done the same think, like djokovic or tipsarevic for example.-

  2. I think Rafa was sincerely feeling bad for Roger.  If you had noticed the moment Rafa won the championship point, he was just briefly holding up his both arms, instead of, last three times, rolling onto the red clay.  It was quite obvious Rafa tried to hold the exuberance from this amazing win.  I respect him more after this match, even I am Roger's fan.  Rafa is the true warrior and noble.  He totally deserves to be the next No. 1.

p.s. kind of sad to admit Roger is going down. He really lost all scrapes of confidence in this match.  I felt Roger admitted the defeat since after the 1st set.  It was really tough to watch.

  3. He was feeling bad and thats the reason why his celebrations after winning were so subdued, out of respect for Federer.

  4. I'm sure he did feel bad for Roger and hence the muted celebrations, however I also feel Rafa looked at the semi's against Nole as the real test.

  5. why should be he sorry

  6. I really liked how both of them reacted. Federer handled his loss with class and Nadal wasn't a conceited tennis player. I think something got to Federer because that is not how he plays.

  7. I agree.  You shouldn't be sorry for anything at all.  He won fair and square.  Roger didn't bring his game and he suffered for it.  He knows how Nadal's been playing and he even watched how he destroyed Djokovic before he play Monfils in the semis.  Federer knew how well Nadal is playing.  But aside from that, Nadal is a good kid and that's just how he is.  He's a great player but he is humble too.  He is the total opposite of Djokovic.  Nadal will take the win but he will feel bad too for the other guy.  He is very sincere which is why most players don't even question it when he calls their serve or shot out cuz they know he's telling the truth.  He'll even tell the umpire not to get up to check the line cuz if the ball is in, he'll give it to his opponent.  If that was anyone else, they'll take it even if it's cheating.

  8. I could definitely tell that Rafa was feeling really bad after the match was over because I mean he was so simple about the celebration after the match  was over.Rafa said himself that he was surprised that Roger didn't bring more to the match. But besides that Rafa respects Federer so much and he could've done a serious celebration but he's good friends with Roger and he wouldn't do that to him because he admires and respects him. Which is really sweet of Rafa, gotta love the guy. Rafa isn't the type to gloat after handing Fed the worst loss he's ever had, that's what makes Rafa so awesome.

  9. like most people here said, yes ,he felt bad, but not for dominating federer... he understood federer's feelings and refused to celebrate in court the way he used to in order not to show off on federer's expence. if he was sorry he wouldn't have won him 6-0!! on court he did the job right but off court he showed the proper respect for a player he regards highly.

  10. Nadal really is a nice person, he isn't full of himself

while watching the final, I heard the commentators mention Nadal was trying to convince ppl that federer, not him, was the favorite in this year's french open.

  11. Well, I think he's feeling bad because he made Federer looked like a big looser. We all know, that they're quite close off court, and he respects Federer very much. I think it's just so sweet for Nadal to feel bad after giving Federer the worst lost in Grand Slam final ever.

  12. Yes, it did seem like he was feeling bad since her said "sorry" to Roger after the match.  He also said that he didn't "celebrate" after winning the match because he wanted to show Roger some respect, and that they have a "good relationship."  Roger gets  so much credit for being a "class act" but I think Rafa deserves equal credit!  He is a really nice guy, and I think he regards Roger as a friend, which is why he felt apologetic after the one-sided match (friends feel for each other!).  Such a sweet guy!  I'm a Federer fan, but Nadal is definitely my second favorite player!

  13. Nope, but I guess if you paid thousands of euros for the ticket...

I guess he felt bad for the fans because it was a one side show.  The biggest win in a final in 40 years, wow!!! No one expected how the game went, oh well, Federer will get his chance on grass...

  14. Nadal has so much respect for Federer.  He probably can't believe that Federer made it easy for him.

There is nothing to be ashamed about in losing, but to get a bagel at a championship match, you gotta feel sorry for the guy.

Everyone was congratulating Federer for handling his defeat with class and sportsmanship.  I think the true class act is Nadal.  He could have jumped, rolled, fist-pumped, roared at the first sign that the crown was his, but he didnt do any of those.  He didnt even go to his family after the match.  All because he has so much respect for Federer, and he doesnt want to make him feel any more defeated.
