Nadal Feeling Good
World number one, Rafael Nadal, says he is feeling good and will keep his confidence regardless of how his match goes against Andy Murray.
It seems that the Spaniard already has one eye on the US Open, which remains as the only Grand Slam that he has not yet won during his relatively short but highly decorated career. He faces his toughest match of Wimbledon so far when he takes on Andy Murray, who has looked like the form player so far through the tournament.
Nadal has a great deal of experience for someone so young and he says that physically he feels great, which will help him in his quest to try and win three Grand Slam events back to back after lifting the trophy at the French Open.
Some people are saying that Nadal may end up being too powerful for Murray. However, It would be naive to say that he will not try and win Wimbledon because he will see his quest this year as the defence of his title that could not retain it last year when he was out with injury.
Physical Shape
Both Nadal and Murray have looked like the two fittest players at Wimbledon this year. This will be important for both players who will be trying to lift this Wimbledon title before shifting their focus to the US Open.
Out of the two, Nadal will probably want to win in America and this can let Murray use all of his physical will to try and beat the multi-Grand Slam winning player. However, regardless of the result it means that both of these players will be in top condition by the time the US Open starts at the end of the summer.
Physical fitness is very important because the tennis season is longer than it has ever been and professionals are playing more matches than ever before. This could be the reason why many say Roger Federer does not play so many events so he can save his energy for the bigger tournaments.
One Eye on America?
There will be few suggesting that the fact Nadal is already speaking about the US Open and feeling physically good means that he may have taken one eye off of Wimbledon. However, he is not the sort of man or player who will give up without a fight and he will still fight to the death to try and win this event.
It does not detract from the fact that Nadal is clearly a very specific and superstitious type of individual. He displays certain antics on court, which have sometimes had him warned by a referee in the middle of a match and annoyed other opponents. Therefore, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he is deeply bothered he has not already won the US Open.
Murray will never have a better chance to win Wimbledon and regardless of what happens during that match, Nadal will go to America as the favourite for the last Grand Slam of the season. This is because it's the one he seems to want more than any other and the Grand Slam he has already described as his favourite.
Advice
Nadal will probably be the favourite for the US Open title regardless of what happens at Wimbledon. He is in the best physical shape of his life. The standard of the field is very high but conditions have never been better for Nadal to win in America.
