On the Roland Garros website says Rafa n Ana will be picking this years draw from a hat. Rafa doing it for the women`s and Ana for the mens. This is exciting !!! I sure hope Ana picks a good draw for Rafa hehe !!! Have they always decided the draw by doing that way from a hat ?! Is it the same at other tournaments like master series.

  1. Tournaments usually have a public draw ceremony before the tournament starts to choose the draw. The players are randomly drawn (hence the name) before an audience which often includes tournament and tour officials as well as members of the media to avoid accusations of draw fixing. Active players as well as former players have been assisting with the draw at big tournaments for many years.

The draw basically works like this: the #1 and #2 seeds are automatically placed at the top and bottom of the draw then #3 and #4 are drawn to see which side they land on. Then 5, 6, 7, 8 and so on. Once all the seeds are evenly distributed in the draw, unseeded players are chosen first to fill in the draw then as opponents for the players already picked(which is why sometimes you have qualifier vs. qualifier in the first round)

According to what I read about the RG draw, only the seeded players will be hand drawn from a hat. All the unseeded players will be drawn by a computer.

Most grand slams have a live draw ceremony where you can follow the draw as it happens live http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/news/a...

  2. ohhhh

    cant wait!!

    :DDDDDDDDDDD

  3. Well I can't see them just placing the seeds anywhere they would have to follow proper tournament procedure for all seeded players and then pick the unseeded from the hat. That I can see.

  4. lol that seems interesting.

  5. I heard that also, and think it is not a good idea. No player who is competing should have their hand in it in anyway, even though you feel like both Nadal and Ana are trustworthy, its too risky.

  6. I just went to the Roland Garros site and I didn't see anything like that on their. If that's true that's not a very good idea because it's not just drawing names out of a hat it has allot more procedures in it than that. And honestly I don't think the draw should be in the hands of players. Anyway out of all the the people who play tennis why would they pick Ana and Rafa? Probably because that's who the main favorites are. But still having players pick the draw is not a good idea, they don't need to do that.

  7. well not to my knowledge?? It is usually done by computer they would draw to see who is entered first for the main draw after knowing Rafa is # 2 and Fed is # 1 so then usually goes by computer as far as I have known. I know that if Rafa did not win against Nolle in Hamburg he was in trouble and would have met Fed or Nolle in the 1/4's.

But no worries our Super Hero won Woohoo!

Go Rafa, only 4 more sleeps to go.

  8. terminator is right, reread it, itll be pretty regukar i imagine. i think they said the unseeded players were been done electronically (but maybe i read that wrong) cos i mean itd be hilerious if djok rafa fed and davydenko all ended up on the same side... i mean im sure they have some regulations!!!

  9. top ranked players are seeded according to their respective GS rules. its the unseeded players that are picked electronically or manually.

  10. how stupid is that!  #3 seed should always be in the side of the #1 seed. it should be odds on one side and evens on the opposite side! just shows how pathetic tennis is now!

  11. That is so stupid because let's say Ivanovic pick Nadal to be the same draw with Federer, they would meet each other in the semis. There has been 1 granslam that both the #1 and #2 were in the same side of the draw and it was Wimbledon. But that happened once before we were even born. If I was them, I refuse to do it and boycott Roland Garros. The French people there are crazy. Tennis nowadays is so weak, from one bad aspect to another.

  12. interesting... but i think it's not a good idea...
