First of all I'm a great admirer of Nadal and have all the respect for him.But I think he's losing his respect! He takes so much time on each point! Now you would argue that great players take their time and blah,blah..... but isn't it unfair to his opponent. He get's away with so many violations! It's as if the umpires are scared of him, lol!

There is no other player on the ATP circuit(good player mind you) that does like this!

Do you know what this does?It upset's his opponent's rhythm. No other player does that! I rather watch Djokovic bouncing the ball on his serve. At least he takes less time!

Now again you will argue it's his style of play!but shouldn't he follow the rules a bit?I no he get's warnings but most of the time he get's away with it!

Again I'm a big admirer of him but that doesn't mean I god-worship him!

Do you agree? What are your views?

  1. Fair?

A player has a certain amount of time between points and first and second serves to begin the point. If he or she goes over the alloted time, the chair umpire would be the one to give a time violation warning. The second violation would be the loss of the point.

I've seen players, Nadal and Djokovic included, get time warnings but never a second one causing them to lose the point.

Many players have lots of rituals they go through before serving a point. Some of these help them focus on the point at hand. Perfectionists as they are, everything has to be just right before they begin their service motion.

All of it is just habbit. I don't think it's gamesmenship.

  3. I completely agree with you and have to say that this is something that always bothered me about Nadal. If you pay close attention to his matches you would notice that he tends to take a lot of time when he is serving at times when it seems he is about to be broken or will lose the point to go down in his service game.

His match against Robin Soderling at last years Wimbledon was a perfect example of this. That's why Soderling mocked Nadal in the match because in that match, Nadal kept forcing Soderling to wait for his serve over and over again!!!

I don't care if this is his way of concentrating before he serves. It's call cheating when you force your opponent to wait on you time and time again. And lets not forget that he has been warned many times in the past for this behaviour.

  4. he is fair

  5. If you want to win you do what it takes to win.  There is nothing wrong in strategizing.  Everybody who goes out to play should have a plan to win.  Everybody is given 45 seconds and if they go over they umpires let them know.  He can take the entire 45 seconds if he wants to.  Look at the way sharapova plays she uses more than 45 seconds many times.  She has to be sometimes reminded of the time and players often complains.  Nadal is doing what he wants within  the time allotted to get himself together to win.  He like the Williams sisters are true competitors who obeys the rules but love to win.  What's wrong with that?

  6. I disagree with you. He`s within the 20seconds time limit and all the players no Rafa takes longer than most do to serve, also with his superstitions that contributes to the time factor. He is serving amazing a key area which has certainly improved on the grass surface :) !

Ginafi i feel a little jealously because Rafa broke back won the tiebreak and is playing well ?!

    Vamos Rafa

  7. what the h**l hes the best. if he werent everybody would critisize him. it takes time 2 hit a great serve. he wouldnt be no. 2 if then would he
