Nadal expressed his views about faith, history and Grand Slam victories
Few days ago, the Spaniard tennis ace who is currently ranked number one by the world ATP rankings gave an interview few days ago. The left handed Nadal who is famously known as, “Rafa’ was born on 3rd June 1986 in the city of Majorca. He has won a total of eight Grand Slam title so far in his professional tennis career along with a gold medal at Olympics back in 2008 as well as a record ATP World Tour Masters 1000 championship.
Rafa was listed number two with Roger Federer as the top ranked player by the world ATP rankings for a record time period of one hundred and sixty weeks before gaining the top spot, which he then enjoyed from 18 August 2008 till 5 July 2009. He recaptured the world number one position on 7 June this year after gaining his fifth French Open trophy. His track record on clay has given him the nickname "The King of Clay", and has forced many analysts to consider him as the best clay court player of all times. Back in 2008, Rafa received an award of Prince of Asturias, in view of his contributions to the game of tennis.
In his interview few days ago, he was asked a question that how much does former players and their records encourages him. The Spaniard replied on that by saying that history does matter a great deal and he feels great to be among other players like Agassi, Connors as well as Lendl.
“ It is highly prestigious to be near such class players, however I am just twenty four years of age at the moment and it is slightly hard to discuss about the records as well as the history”, said Rafa. “In my view, the Grand Slam titles are not the only ones to count. As far as I know, what the former tennis ace Lendl did at the Masters Series was truly exceptional. We have to look beyond the major ones. There is a need to value certain other things as well, right? We have to notice when I end my professional life where I am. At the moment I am quite satisfied as I never imagined I reach here with a total of eighteen Masters 1000 as well as eight Grand Slams titles”, he added.
This put down the view that Federer is a past and history whereas Rafa is simply out there to play the game of tennis to the fullest of his flair without any anxiety about where he is in the books. Nadal’s reaction is nearly almost similar as Roger's at about the same stage in his professional life, halfway through pistol Pete record.
There is certainly no doubt about the fact that he is an aggressive challenger and, like Federer and Pete before him, is fully accustomed of his position in the history. This is simply natural. High quality sportsman cannot be satisfied with only triumphing in days in and days out versus lesser dangerous players. They actually aim to have to fight with history.
In a question about his faith in God, the 1.85 meters tall Rafael Nadal responded by saying that, “it is certainly tough to say, I don’t have faith in God. However, I would like to know if God actually exits. However, at the moment it is a very hard thing for me to trust upon him. I seriously have no idea. It is personal and I seriously do not want to discuss about it however according to me, if God actually exits, we do not have to pray or demand anything from him as he is smart enough to provide us with all the right and the required stuff’, Rafa added.
