The Spanish veteran and superstar tennis player Rafael Nadal successfully cruised past his Serbian arch rival Novak Djokovic to qualify for the semi-final of ATP World Tour Finals tennis event, being held at the O2 Arena in London.
The match between the world number one Rafael Nadal and world number three Novak Djokovic was expected to be an exciting one but the day was a bit unlucky for the Serbian as he endured an eye problem during the match.
Djokovic’s eye problem opened a window of opportunity for the 24-year-old Spaniard and Nadal clinched the victory in a marvellous way by 7-5, 6-2 in a two setter battle of tennis. The match lasted for one hour and fifty minutes.
Now Nadal is currently leading the Group A of the tournament with two remarkable wins whereas the Serbian ace Novak Djokovic is levelled with Tomas Berdych with just one victory.
The match between Djokovic and Nadal started pretty well when both of the tennis stars challenged each other. Nadal broke the serve of Djokovic in the fifth game of the first set but the Serb gave him an equally staggering response and clinched an important
point from Nadal.
Later Djokovic developed about an eye problem and asked for some medical treatment as he was not at all feeling comfortable to play his game. The right eye problem of Djokovic gave an easy chance to Nadal. The Spaniard broke the serve of Djokovic and remained
dominant throughout the match.
After the match the Djokovic seemed pretty upset about his condition and expressed his views to the media in a state of despair and devastation. Djokovic said that it was very disappointing for him that as the right eye lens problem struck him for the first
time in his career. He added and said that he is not feeling good at all about it and he is very worried about the case.
The problem really affected the performance of the Serb during the match as he seemed totally out of the game after developing the eye problem. He said it was totally impossible for him to see the ball during the second set of the match. He added that winning
and losing a game is a part of tennis world but he was not expecting such kind of hurdle at all.
The eye problem of Novak Djokovic has certainly given a strong blow to his aims for the tournament. It is very important for him to recover from the problem as soon as possible to win his next match and qualify for the semi-final stages of the tournament.
