  1. Because of the olympics

  2. The reason for that is because of the Olympic Games.  At the same time last there was no Olympics, and in order for tennis pros to play in the Olympic Games this year the schedule of other tournaments got rearranged.  Last year around this time Roger Federer won Cincy and he still has the points from last year; I think it's about 500 ATP points.  Nadal did not win the tournament so he does not have enough points to surpass Roger until August 18 when Roger's points from last year get removed.  So if Nadal had won the tournament he would already have enough points to surpass Roger still having some points from last year.  It's kind of confusing, so basically Nadal has to wait until Roger's points from last year get canceled on August 18.  Hope this helps.  Have a nice day!

  3. If nadal had won the recent semi final, he would have been crowned no.1 the next day. Though he didn't. This means he is still no.2 as he doesn't have enough points. Hence he has to wait until august 18 until he can be crowned as that is when the previous points from the olympics are removed due to the olympics starting in bejing. Since Fedrer won last time, his points will be removed, therefore federer will loose more points the nadal and hence overall nadal will be on top. So nadal will end federer's streak of about 230 consecutive weeks at no.1. Although of course if federer does well in the US open and olympics he could well have that title back. It still pretty close between them.
