Nadal tops ATP World Rankings
Rafael Nadal completed a grand year as the world number one in tennis despite being humbled by Roger Federer in the final of ATP World Tour Finals Championship. He is firmly entrenched on the first spot as he commands a dominating lead of 3305 points over
his rival and closest competitor, Roger Federer. Nadal won all the Grand Slams of the year except the Australian Open, which also enabled him to get a career Grand Slam.
Federer on the other hand is securely encased in the second place after defeating world number Nadal in a three set thriller to lift the World Tour Finals trophy for a record equalling fifth time. He won the Australian Open in 2010 before encountering a
lacklustre year that saw him lose three Grand Slams without reaching their finals.
Andy Murray moved up one spot to dislodge Robin Soderling from the fourth position as he reclaimed the spot after reaching the semi-finals of the recently concluded season ending tournament which was played in the majestic O2 Arena.
