Nadia Petrova takes Edina Gallovits-Hall down in straight sets at the 2011 Family Circle Cup second round
Russian tennis pro and seventh seed Nadia Petrova ousted Romania’s Edina Gallovits-Hall in straight sets at the 2011 Family Circle Cup just minutes ago, ousting her opponent in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of the
prestigious Premier tournament. Petrova took a little under an hour to dismiss Gallovits-Hall in their second career meeting.
Petrova hails from Moscow, Russia, and is 28 years old. The player is currently ranked within the Top 25 players on the Women’s Tennis Association, at World Number 22. She is a right-handed player, and has been playing tennis professionally
since 1999. The pro, who lives in Miami, USA, has spent over eleven years on the WTA circuit and has won a total of nine career titles over the course of her career.
Gallovits-Hall, on the other hand, is a Romanian tennis player who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, UA. The player is right-handed, and on the verge of breaking into the WTA Top 100 at World Number 105. She is 26 years old,
and has played tennis on a professional level since 1999. She has not had a very successful career, and 2011 has not been treating her well so far. She has lost every single match she appeared in so far, barring her first round showing at this Charleston event.
She has never won a WTA singles title.
Petrova stayed in control of the match almost throughout, scoring three aces during the match and committing only one double fault. She saved the single break point which she was brought to by Gallovits-Hall, and exacted revenge
on her opponent by successfully converting five of a total of eight break points against the Romanian. In the end, Petrova won the match by scoring an impressive 62 per cent of the total points in the match to set up a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline, identical to the
one posted by Caroline Wozniacki against Irina Falconi earlier in the day.
Nadia Petrova will compete against Chinese tennis pro and eleventh seed Shuai Peng in the third round at Charleston.
