Nadiya Kichenok gets rid of Monika Stanikova in final qualies – Slovak Open 2011
Ukrainian Nadiya Kichenok got the better off Slovakian Monika Stanikova in the final qualifying round of the Slovak Open 2011.
Both the players took up the challenger on indoor hard courts of the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia. After one hour and sixteen minutes unseeded Ukrainian Kichenok thrashed the home girl (Slovakian Stanikova)
in straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 on Monday the 14th of November 2011.
Initiating the first round of the match was Stanikova and both the players traded in breaks in the first two games to place themselves on the scoreboard at 1-1. In the following two games, the players once more bagged a service
game each and the score tied at 2-2 by the end of the fourth game.
During the fifth and the sixth games, the players once more traded in breaks and tied the score at three games each. However, it was in the seventh game that Stanikova double faulted on her second serve and endorsed a crucial breakpoint
to her adversary. Nonetheless, Kichenok availed the breakpoint and then held her serve to take a lead of 5-3 at the end of the eighth game. As the Ukrainian held her serve for the last time, she clogged the opening set with a 6-3 victory.
After taking a beating in the first round, Stanikova did pull up her socks but was only able to bag a 56 percent of her first service points while; Kichenok bagged an ostentatious 92 percent of her first serves on target.  Moreover,
the Ukrainian had a strong defence which did not falter even once and she did not setup a single break point opportunity for her adversary.
Opening the second round of the match was Kichenok and this time both the players were successful in holding their respective serves and placed themselves at 1-1 on the scoreboard. In the following two games the players once more
bagged their respective serves and the score had tied at two games each at the end of the fourth game.
During the fifth game Kichenok held her serve and then capitalized on a breakpoint to reel off two consecutive games and take a mini lead of 4-2 at the end of the sixth game. During the last two games, the Ukrainian repeated the
feat and by restricting her adversary to only two games, sealed her victory of the set and the match.
In doing so; Kichenok was able to secure a place in the main draw of the event.
