Nagpur leads market for Novices’ Hurdle
Nagpur is heading the betting market for Jim Emons Memorial Novices’ Hurdle that will take place at Plumpton racecourse today, April 27. The race is set to start at 4:35 (GMT).
To cover the distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs on the heavy track, the Venetia Williams-trained bay gelding will compete against three horses named as Fools Mate, Kuilsriver and Montys Cash. The cash prize reserved for the supposed winner is £2,669.
Nagpur owns a decent track record. The six-year-old veteran horse has been enjoying great form since the dawn of 2012. He elegantly bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs in January. After getting a runner-up spot on February 23, he moved ahead to finish
6th and 9th in two back-to-back races on March 14 and April 13.
Overall, the maverick gelding has 24 races to his name. His two epic feats in January hiked his confidence to a great extent along with making him a blue-eyed runner of the punters.
Currently, the hot favourite horse is carrying a lot of momentum that will help him make a big impact in today’s marathon. If Nagpur produces a clean and calculated run, he will surely be able to outplay his competitors convincingly. His chances to thrive
are more than 90 percent.
Among the other runners, Kuilsriver and Montys Cash are likely to do well in the race.
Kuilsriver finished 2nd in his last outing on April 3, 2012. Prior to this, the Nick Gifford-trained bay gelding had grabbed a runner-up position on February 17. The 10-race experienced horse is winless to date. He will strive hard to break his
maiden in the Hurdle.
On the other hand, Montys Cash staged his debut on February 23, 2012 and finished 10th in his maiden outing. Heather Cobb’s bay gelding improved greatly and bagged 6th position in the second and last race of his career on March 14.
He is also looking to break his maiden.
Come what may, Nagpur will be able to pave his way towards triumph emphatically. However, the competition will be fairly close. Let us enjoy the heated action. Good luck to all the geldings.
