Nails on puppies dew claw question?

My 3 month old mix (Shepherd and Bernice Mountain Dog) has 2 nails growing from one of his back due claws.

Has anyone ever had this happen to their dog? When he gets older could this cause a problem that I might have to have his due claws removed?

I agree with Midwest.

I've never heard of it, but it's something you probably want to have removed.  At the neuter is a great time.

Double dewclaws are relatively common on Bernese Mtn Dogs.

Have them removed when you get him neutered.

A lot of dogs do have double dewclaws. You can have them removed when he is neutered. It won't really hurt him to have them, unless they get caught on something.
