Everton’s newly signed striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Naismith-c34205 let out his excitement on being back on the football field, following his first appearance since October in a pre-season friendly game against Motherwell.
The former Rangers player featured in just 15 games for the Scottish giants last season. He damaged his cruciate ligament on the 29th of October after failing to properly execute an attempted tackle on an Aberdeen FC player, Rob Milsom.
Following the expulsion of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 from the Scottish Premier League, the 25-year old appeared in the summer transfer window as a free agent, and signed a four-year deal with Everton on the 4th of July.
It was only recently that the striker’s agreement with the Merseyside club was cleared by FIFA, allowing him to make his professional debut for the Toffees in a friendly match against Motherwell on Saturday night.
After having completed his recuperation process and getting his name cleared by the governing body of world football, Naismith expressed his delight on finally being able to get back on the field, and vowed to work hard in order to earn his place in the
team.
While talking to reporters, he said: “It was great to make my debut. It made it that extra bit special because I've been out for quite a while and there was the legal stuff to get through. But I'm glad that it's all passed now and I can focus on getting
my fitness back and staking a claim for the first game of the season.”
Naismith also went on to express his gratitude towards his new team-mates and the Toffees fans for making his transition from the Ibrox Stadium to Goodison Park an easy one, and revealed that he did not experience any nerves upon his arrival at Merseyside.
“The boys have made me very welcome. They are different class. Moving to a new club, there's always a bit of nerves to see how you'll settle in.”
Despite missing out on his side’s first two pre-season friendly games, the Scottish player will get ample opportunity to prepare for the next season, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 are set to play five more warm up fixtures, before their 2012/13 campaign gets underway on the
20th of August.
