Question:

Naive predictions about Michigans season?

Okay all you so called "college football experts." I think Michigan will lose to Wisconsin, and although I think Michigan will beat Penn State and Ohio State, I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan lost to both teams.

However, if you think that the Wolverines will lose to any of the following teams in 2008: Utah, Notre Dame, Illinois, Michigan State, and Purdue, tell me why the h**l you think that. AND GIVE ME REASONS!!

The Wolverines WILL NOT LOSE to ANY of those teams! My gosh, how naive are so called "college football experts" now-a-days?

  1. THE MICHIGAN WOLVERINES SUCK!!! OHIO STATE WILL MAUL THEIR A$SES IN THE SHOE...MICHIGAN SUCKS!!!

  2. Why I agree that Wolverine football isn't dead, I do believe that it'll take Rich Rodriguez a couple of years to get "his type of players" into the organization.  He won't have a losing season this year, but he won't be battling for a national championship.  If you're a die hard Wolverine fan then give him a year or two and they'll be in the thick of it.  I do hope you guys beat OSU this year and lay the sweater vest to rest.  Oh yeah, one more thing, Hook 'em Horns.  Had to do it.

  3. Yes i am no michigan fan but i think they are very underrated and deserve more respect but, they did lose chad henne, hart, long, and manningham. I predict that they beat penn state. Nice Question.

  4. It's great to support your favorite team, but your opinions are not objective.  Here are just a few reasons for you to review between sips of Maize and Blue Kool-Aid:

    1.  Michigan has lost multiple key starters to other name universities - including a starting tackle, top QB, etc. and multiple other talent. These top athletes chose to leave. This makes a difference in talent available, quality of play and most of all, team spirit.

    2.  New coach will have great difficulty pulling the team together the first season or two:

    A.  Controversy surrounding his exit from WV

    B.  New offensive system - these are not easy changes to make

    C.  Relationships and team spirit must be built

    3. Michigan does not have the right type of athletes to run the spread the way Rodriguez wants it run.  This makes a difference.  Replacing them takes time.

    4.  Michigan is vulnerable to attention deficit disorder (see Appalachian State files)

    5.  Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio State will all beat Michigan this year. They are on the up, with systems, personnel and leadership - on and off the field - already in place, and Michigan is waning for a season or two (the time it will take for Rodriquez to on-board the type of talent to run his offense, learn to lead them and ramp them up to a level capable of winning big games). Michigan has had problems in this area already - even without a new coach.

If they can maintain their typical recruiting quality of past years, they'll bounce back, but not this year.  I tend to think they won't for three reasons:

    1.  Coaches like Zook are siphoning away top talent. The Big Ten is no longer the Big Two and it will be less easy for Michigan to maintain their quality of recruiting.

    2.  I believe the team Rodriquez put together really helped him get the Michigan job, but is not typical of the talent or teams he will build.  The last team he had success with there, in 2007, was also the best team he's had.  It was so because he had two super-freak athletes in the same backfield.  If the talent of those athletes was fully transparent coming out of high school, it is highly unlikely either, or both of them would have ended up at WV.  So I feel the WV output which got him the Michigan job was an anomaly based more on rare and exceptional talent, rather than a reproduceable level of dominance.

And there are many more programs attracting and using that type of versatile athlete than the type Michigan has recruited in the past.

Best of luck to you with your team in the approaching football season.

  5. They are just making predictions.  If they are right then they seem like the genius this year.  Personally I would make more sensible picks like Michigan probably will win 7 or 8 games this season.

    Utah - Possible Loss

    Miami (OH) - Win

@ Notre Dame - Possible Loss

    Wisconsin - Loss

    Illinois - Possible Loss

    Toledo - Win

    @ Penn State - Loss

    Michigan State - Win

    @ Purdue - Possible Loss

    @ Minnesota - Win

    Northwestern - Win

    @ Ohio State - Loss

I see an automatic 5 Wins with a possible of 4 more wins at most.  Michigan signs a coach with a Spread offense mentality with a fast/quick QB and RB and you have slow QB's, slow WR, slow RB's.  Nothing will change.  Nothing will change for another 4 years when his recruits are actually playing.. Thats what bullshit about Willingham and Notre Dame.  WEIS played with Willingham's boys and was made into a star because of it.  Pryor should of went to Michigan and would of been starting this season and the offense fits him well.

  6. Any true Michigan fan you should not believe what the idiots on ESPN say. Lou Holts is the biggest idiot on the planet saying Notre Dame will win 11 games or saying History is on thier side so they are gonna win. I think Michigan will win because PJ Hill is very injury prone and Travis Beckum is overrated. All the experts are robots anyway, they just go with what everyone thinks.

  7. Ok, your supporting your team, which is great, but c'mon, let's be realistic for a second guy.  Illinois?  You think there is no chance that Illinois will beat Michigan?  They are more experienced on and off the field, by that I mean coahing wise.  Yes Zook is far more experienced than Rodriguez, especially in Big 10 play.  They also have far more talent.  The return a great playmaking quarterback and a young experienced defense.  Their 2 tailbacks replacing Mendenhall are no joke either.  They MIGHT beat Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Purdue, but Utah????  No.  Illinois??? No.  Also, as for you thinking Michigan will beat Penn State and Ohio State.....you need to be medically referred to a clinical asylum, and fast.  You "wouldn't be surprised"?  I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Wells even dresses for the game for the Buckeyes because their second team could beat Michigan this year.  Michigan has young depth, ok, look out next year maybe, but this year, their first in a completely new system.  Dude, a .500 record would be a blessing for this team.  Maybe Tressel will loan Rodriguez a sweater vest to make him feel better after the season.

  8. Illinois has a decent team. You could lose that one. Also, you have a new coach, new offense, and no quarterback experience. Pretty sure that is why everyone is hating on the Wolverines this year. That and the App State debacle of last year.

  9. I'm going to keep this short and simple. Michigan will be 5-7 or 6-6 at best. This will be a temporary down year due to all the skilled offensive players gone from last year. Just be glad Indiana isn't on your schedule, even they would beat you this year..haha

  10. I would like to say they'll beat Utah, Notre Dame, Illinois, Michigan State and Purdue, but we all know how tricky college football can be (Michigan losing to App State, Alabama losing to UL-Monroe to name a few) The only game that worries me out of those is the Utah game. Utah has a lot to play for as they try to crash the BCS party again. Notre Dame is a team they can beat in their sleep, Illinois may be tough, but Juice Williams can't do it all, I forgot Michigan State even had a football team, and the last thing Purdue did in football that mattered was to give Drew Brees a scholarship (GEAUX SAINTS). Michigan football isn't completely back, but its definitely gonna be better this year.
