I would like to find out more about this chant and the belief in Gohonzon? I'm a Buddhist and came upon this when I was a teenager. I was introduced this and lately I found some information from the website. But I would like to know more from anyone who can share.

  1. "Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō"

The mantra is referred to as Daimoku and translates:

"Devotion to the Law of the Lotus Scripture" or

"Devotion to the Mystic Law of cause and effect that exists throughout all the sounds and vibrations of the universe."

I won't interpret this any more stating "The phrase is somewhat difficult to render into English because each word or set of words contains a complex set of symbolism and connotation."

There is a whole section about it's meaning on wikipedia.

As far as Gohonzon: Ask about it on the Society & Culture > Religion & Spirituality category.
