Nambisco triumphs in Bettor.com Scottish Derby Final

Nambisco pursed a cool first prize of £25,000 for his camp last night with an electrifying performance at Shawfield which also crowned him the new champion of the Bettor.com Scottish Derby.

The Carly Philpott trained dog made a trap three start on the night and continued to whizz round the 480m track in the same style as the semis where he won by a massive 12 lengths.

Nambisco was sent off as the 7-4 favourite on the night and after the first bend it was always looking inevitable that it was game over for the rest. Craig Dawson’s Ballymac Rebound (9-2) made a trap one start and trailed in behind by four lengths to late allowing Nambisco to clock 28.98secs.

Trainer Nick Savva was the only finalist of the night who had ever won a Scottish Derby, he was represented by two dogs, one being Westmead Scolari who had been favoured by Jonathan Hobbs on the night to be a gamble which could possibly pay-out as running wide tends to suit him. Scolari was drawn with trap six and did manage to break well, but ultimately needed the field to provide some form of setback through the middle in order for him to gain the advantage needed as he simply could not test the pace of winner Nambisco.

Last night’s result was a great achievement for the young 27 year old handler Philpott who now stands a chance to land a mouth watering £1,000,000 by sponsors Bettor.com if she can continue to triumph in the English and Irish Derby with Nambisco. Williamhill.com have quoted odds of 20-1 for Nambisco to take the English Derby which will commence at the end of April.

The overall competition has provided for many unpredictable turnouts but last night was a night which shouldn’t have dented the pockets for punters as a total of eight favourites came through from twelve races and judging by the atmosphere at the track, I'm guessing everyone enjoyed themselves and definitely connected with a winner.

Results for the additional Trophy events held by Bettor.com on the night:

Bettor.com Sprint Trophy (300m) winner:
Blood Of Kings – 17.75secs

Bettor.com Maiden Trophy (480m) winner:
 Beaming Dilemma – 29.55secs

Bettor.com b*****s Trophy (480m) winner:
 Sniper Petra – 29.31secs

Bettor.com Invitation Trophy (480m) winner:
Ardkill Ernie – 29.66secs
