Namco Bandai teasing new announcements – Video Games Update
Namco Bandai, the creators of Pac-man, the Tekken series and the ‘Tales Of’ series have put up a countdown site teasing the announcement of an ‘All Stars Battle’ game. They have also teased news for ‘Tales Of’ fans in the West via Twitter.
The title suggests that the game is fighter inspired by Nintendo’s popular ‘Super Smash’ series. Sony has also blatantly ripped Nintendo off and announced its own crossover fighting game ‘All Stars Battle Royale’ which is set to release in the fourth quarter
of 2012.
The question remains as to what kind of fighting system Namco will opt for in its upcoming ‘All Stars Battle’. Will they just make a super smash clone which is a 2D fighter or will they go for Tekken’s 3D fighting mechanics with limb-based combat.
Namco Bandai was also the publisher for the Naruto games developed by Cyber Connect studios which featured a different kind of fighting system with ‘Jutsus’ that trigger quick time events and deliver a cinematic presentation as a ‘Chakra’ meter which acts
as a stamina bar for special moves.
The countdown timer on the site is for three days so Namco Bandai will probably officially announce the title on July 5, 2011.
Namco Bandai also had some good news for ‘Tales Of’ fans in the West as it was Tweeted today @NamcoBandaiUK, “Yep all I can say right now is we are listening to you and please stay tuned for more info.” The official ‘Tales of’ Twitter account, @TalesOfU,
also had some activity as it stated, “Tales Of fans I know you are excited for Tales Of Xillia 2 but all I can tell you right now is to stay tuned.”
Does this mean the Namco is finally listening to its fans who have been begging for a Tales Of game for quite some time? The last localised game being Tales Of Graces F on Playstation3 (PS3), which was a port of the Wii version but the localised only for
the PS3.
This news might mean that Namco Bandai is about to announce a localised version of Tales Of Xillia 2, which is currently said to be exclusive to the Japanese market. It might finally be the Tales Of Vesperia for the PS3 in the west because as it stands right
now, Tales Of Vesperia English version, released in 2008, is exclusive to the Xbox 360.
Check out Namco Bandai’s official site and Twitter to keep up with the latest updates from the publisher.
