Hello, my name on my birth certificate is Roberto and aswell as my School paper work. I usually write Robert to all my things. Just wondering would this affect me later on. Just wondering if there would be difficulties just putting Robert instead of Roberto.

  1. My husband's birth certificate and social security card say Ernesto, but he signs everything Ernest.  He's listed as Ernest on his driver's license, paychecks, college diploma, etc.  It's never been a problem.  I don't think you have anything to worry about.

  2. Why would you want to Americanize your name? Yes it could affect you if you dont change it legally. Because your birth certificate social security card and education is under Roberto and not Robert someone could be a jerk and give you a hard time. My sisters has always gone by her middle name BUT her legal name is her 1st name. Prior to 911 she had all her ID Drivers licence and bank accountd under her middle name after 911 she was forced to change it
