  1. Get an 8800 series one if you can find one in your price range, some of the 8800GT ones have come down in price quite a bit recently and can easily handle most things on high settings, I have similar setup - 3.0ghz dual core, 2gb RAM and an 8800GS 384mb and that can handle most of the games I play on the highest settings (HL2, TF2, GTA:SA, Call of  juarez, 2 worlds etc etc) and is pretty cheap, may struggle with some more recent games  but will be way better than a 8600 ( My processor is a pentium D and is the main bottleneck there but doesn't stop me playing any of these with all settings on full, so the 8600 is probably the bottleneck in your system)

  2. Well, the 9600GT is decent. But for WoW I think that overkill.

Besides, saying 3Ghz dual core isn't actually helpful. If that processor is a Pentium D. Then an Athlon64 X2 4600 would be faster than that. And is actually the cause of slow games on WoW.
