  1. depends on what story your writing,

if fiction i sujest :wave back-hand dagger

    realistic fiction:Cold Steel Voyager

or an urbanistic fiction(i think thats what its called):Benchmade tactical folder

(i read it in this book about a teenage girl being forced to live in the streets and to be able to protect herself and find her brother...tho i forgot the name...)

  2. butter fly knife

  3. A defensive knife? I didn't know there was even an offensive knife. In martial arts knives are weapons that we use as an extension of our hands. Depending on how one uses it it can be either defensive or offensive.

  4. i knife isnt defensive. maybe a blunt knife.

  5. The one you have in your hand when YOU are attacked.

The law can be against you even when it should validate you.

There is no such thing as a defensive knife or gun. It is the context that a tool "weapon" is used in that determines what it becomes.

Slick talking lawyers love the term -prohibited offensive weapon- in other words you are almost always guilty of wrong doing just by possession alone.

Always be respectful of your states laws.

  6. No such thing...

A knife is an offensive weapon.

The only exception that I can think of would be any knife that you pick up off of the table or out of a knife rack to defend yourself when somebody else comes at you with a knife.

If you CARRY it, it is not defensive!

  7. A defensive knife? Knives are tools. All knives are at the same time defensive, aggressive, and neutral. It's what you do with it that makes it one thing or another.

Edit: Lena, the point is that the question doesn't make sense. Clarify and maybe we can help you, but "defensive knife" doesn't tell us anything. Beyond that, we're all guessing.

  8. Odd question.

Check your state laws for carrying a blade. It usually can't be greater than 3". Most stated allow only folding blades-- no fixed blades or gravity knives.

Regardless, you must always consider the possibility of going before a jury.

What is a better solution? A good steel ball point pen. You can take it with you ANYWHERE, and no one will ever question it.

In a court of law, it give you the benefit of the doubt even if you are in the rights in defending yourself.

That being said, it isn't a good deterrent. In other words, you can't hold it in front of yourself and expect to keep a person away because they are afraid of getting cut.

So, employ the pen deceptively. If you are corned, consider allowing the person to close. Once they place a hand on you, trap it with your own and stab with the free hand. Neck, eyes, throat, face are good places.

Otherwise, close with the person (be the aggressor) and use the same techniques

  9. I carry a Schrade (Old Timer) a five inch locking blade. It is legal to carry. I hope to never need it for that but it will get the job done. In the Marines i carried a K- bar. Try a Bowie knife it,s big mean and scary looking

  10. You can use any knife to defend yourself, but against anything short of another knife (with a couple exceptions) you are escalating violence. If this is for a book why not go with something a little different, I saw butterfly knives mentioned but maybe you could equip your character with a butterfly sword. These are often used in pairs in Kung Fu fighting systems. You can look them up online. Stylistically they stand out and have many options for defense as well as offense while remaining believably concealable.

    Just my opinion.

  11. a semi automatic ak-47 assualt rifle
