I thought The Notebook was a beautiful film, but the book was flimsy.

  1. Forrest Gump.  The movie was far better.  That's all I can think of though.


  2. "Hannibal" - in the book Clarice Starling and Hannibal end up hooking up at the end.  Yuck!

  3. To Have and Have Not.  Although to say the movie was "based" on the book is a stretch--the book and the movie have little in common.

  4. Howl's Moving Castle.

    The book was by Dianne Wynne Jones.

    The movie is a modern Hayao Miyazaki masterpiece and I thought it was much better.

    Incidentally, I also thought that The Indian in the Cupboard was a better movie than book, but that's really all I can think of...

  5. Definitely "L.A. Confidential." That was one of the best movies of the 1990s, but the book, not so great.
