  1. rocky marciano-rocky hit like a brick $hit house. he once broke a mans forearm. could you imagine if ali tried the rope a dope and put his hands up to block 6 rounds later and he wouldn't be able to lift his arms.rocky was a really good fighter.there will only be one rocky.can you here the crowd rocky rocky rocky rocky

  2. Probably none.  Ali, at the peak of his powers, was clearly the best heavyweight of all time.

However, he was vulnerable to the left hook, as was so greatly demonstrated in his fights with Joe Frazier and even the Englishman, Henry Cooper, who floored Ali.

But, then again, every boxer has a weakness.  Ali just had fewer of them.  Perhaps any of the all-time greats might have beaten Ali once.  But over the long haul, Ali would beat anybody more than he would be beaten.  He was the greatest.

  3. Ken Norton

    Joe Frazier

    Rocky Marciano

    Joe Louis

    Jack Dempsey

    Jim Jeffries

    and maybe Larry Holmes

  4. Mike Tyson wood pound the c**p out of the old r****d.

  5. Not a single fighter could beat him.

Who'd perform the best against him?

#1 Larry Holmes would lose 10 rounds to 5

#2 Jack Johnson would lose 12 rounds to 3

#3 Gene Tunney same as Jack Johnson.

Fast guys that could box gave Ali his biggest troubles, Doug Jones nearly pulled off an upset in an evenly contested fight.  Larry, Jack and Gene are the only ones that could have coped with Ali's speed.  Sluggers had no chance.

  6. I honestly can name one.  Even Floyd "Money" Mayweather wouldn't match up right against Muhammad Ali in his prime.  Ali lost the best years of his life when the U.S. Government took his title and ability to fight.  The man couldn't train, dance, and destroy the competition.  Sorry, but Ali prior to his ban was just way too good.  The scary thing is no one ever actually saw Ali in his true prime.  He would have been a god if he wasn't banned.

  7. NONE.

  8. It's really hard to say if anyone could have beaten Ali at his very best as he was super fast, had the best mobility and footwork in the ring, and of course, skillful.  I will list a few fighters that may have given him trouble and the reasons why instead.

Jack Johnson.  Jack was a lot like Ali in how he leaned backed from punches and was great at parrying and counterpunching.

Jack Dempsey.  Jack because of his bob and weave style and power.  He would have forced Ali to fight.

Joe Louis.  Joe was a complete fighter with tremendous power and speed and if he hurt you, it was over.

Rocky Marciano because of the relentless pressure and heart of a champion not to mention power in both hands.

Joe Frazier.  Of course you already know the results as Joe's style would have probably given Ali trouble even at his best.

Larry Holmes because of that great jab and movement of his probably second only to Ali as far as the jab speed goes.

    Second tier:

Gene Tunney because he was a master boxer and also had great movement in the ring.

Ezzard Charles is widely believed to be one of the most skilled and underrated fighters ever.  Power and speed.

Jersey Joe Walcott because of his ability to slip and slide punches with surprising power.

James J. Jeffries because of his size, strength, and power.  He also was well known for his stamina.

Most of these fighters would have given Ali some trouble and capable of beating him, but it wouldn't have been easy.

  9. When Ali was at his peak, he couldn't be beat. He was a pure boxer with a great chin. The best we saw of Ali was before his 3 year layoff, and he was dominating. A young Ali never did the rope a dope. So laying on the ropes for all the great punchers you can line up in the heavyweight history isn't realistic. He did lie on the ropes when he got older and slower but even Foreman who was 40lbs heavier than Marciano couldn't hurt him. Louis had problems with speed fighters, like Billy Conn. Ali was bigger stronger and much faster than Conn. Tyson? Be serious what great fighter did he beat?

When Ali lost, it was after the 3 yr layoff. His body filled out and got thicker. He didn't have the ability to stay on his toes and move for 15 rounds anymore. He rested at times, Norton's style gave him fits, but again it was after his peak days, and I assume this questioner meant who can beat Ali at his peak.

I think the one fighter that would match up best with Ali is Holmes. Styles make fights. Holmes jab was great and he had a solid right hand. His chin wasn't as good and his footwork wasn't as good. I think Ali takes that fight in a decision, but more of a chess match type of fight.
