Name an honest aussie politician thats done something good for the people and not sold off our assets in the last 25 years?

Something good doesn't include thinking up new taxes and fines

Is there any point to bothering to vote ?

  1. While I can't think of any at the moment... doesn't mean that there is none. I live in an electorate that has had Independent state and federal members for many years - Labor and Liberal don't stand a chance here!

Perhaps instead of complaining about "is there any point bothering to vote" why not stand for election yourself? In Australia, voting is compulsory for all citizens and not voting is an offence under the Electoral Act.

Here in NSW, we have local council elections next month and I think it's fantastic to see plenty of young candidates standing for political office for the first time (as young as 19 years of age)! I think it's a case of "if you don't like it, jump in and nominate yourself"...

  2. Paul Keating. He may not be a current politician but he was the only one brave enough this month to speak out against India getting behind the scenes deals to let it buy uranium but exempting it from signing the Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty. Didn't hear about it in the Australian news, did we? But it was huge news in India and Europe - possibly the biggest single threat to world peace in ages. Everyone was gagged and tied over it. Bravo to Paul Keating for saying something, even though the media was under strict orders to not publish what he really had to say about the dirty deal being done for India:

    Bring back Keating!

  3. Tom Playford

He guided South Australia through a lot of change and did the best for that state.

  4. Bob Brown? But then, how do we know who has sold out and who hasn't? Only a person with a clear mind and an analytical education can see through propaganda and deceit.

Since Kevin has announced his so called idea for an Asia-Pacific Union by 2020, I think I'll just keep showing fellow Aussies these and hope for change:
