Name and describe one individual who is obsessed with power?

Name and describe one individual, from actual life or fiction, who is obsessed with power. What are (were or might be) the consequences of such ambition? Do you think that absolute power corrupts absolutely?

That arguement can be made for Brutus or Caesar of course, or Hitler would be a good example. Both had, what could seem as good intentions that were currupted by either there blindness, or greed.

Henry VIII, he seperated from the Holy Roman Empire when they wouldn't give him what he wanted, he beheaded two wives and divorced two more when they wouldn't give him what he wanted, and he had hundreds of his advisors, like Thomas More and Cardinal Wolsey, charged with bogus treason charges when they wouldn't give him what he wanted. He spent his entire life partying and playing, he did all his business at Mass so he had more of the day to have fun, and as a result, he ended up broke, fat, and miserable. Everyone was afraid of him because he had mood swings that would mean something he liked in the morning would make him furious in the evening. In short, his power made him miserable to be around and suspicious of EVERYONE!!!
