Name any musician that has better song writing than The Beatles?

if you listen to the words in their songs they are incredible and I want to know what song writer has even come close to put out the quality music and lyrics that The Beatles put out and they are not even my favorite band

I am also not really a fan of the Beatles. I do think however that some of their lyrical work is very good. I think that there are many that are better though:

Pink Floyd

Led Zeppelin

Alan Parsons Project

Dire Straits

If you need a Beetle's song that brings you down to earth, consider them all sitting around one of their houses and John says" we need to come up with another song" and, suddenly, thump, thump, thump! Ringo says, "John, someone's knocking on the door" Paul jumps in and says "somebodies ringing the bell" George says, "do me a favor, open the door, and let em in" and the rest is history.

Now, one of my personal favorites, is a lyrical slam-dunk by a group called Dangerous Toys. The song is titled: Sportin a Woody. Boy, it doesn't get more poetic or philosophical than that.
