  1. flooding.

Destruction and alteration of the landscape can increase flood risk. For example dredging of river beds, which affects river flow and speed or destruction of tidal areas for development, meaning there is no longer a protective area between the built areas i.e. towns and the rivers, so if they flood the towns are affected.

  2. Death.

  3. landslide

  4. Landslide....a slope that is normally stable and safe could be weakened due to poor foresting practices.  Since the definition of degradation is that the environmental habitat is damaged but not destroyed this would fit the bill.  Say half the trees were logged off of a slope and then when the roots started to die the slope became weak and unstable.  A heavy rain comes and the whole slope is lost due to a landslide which was created solely due to environmental degradation.

  5. deep in the tundra in frozen lakes such as in siberia you will see bubbles in the ice. These bubbles are methane, caused by the breakdown of submerged plant material. When we have entered the state we are in this methane can be released, so much that you can literally set the ice on fire with a match. the release of the methane will further increase the effects of GW because mathane is a greater greenhouse gass than C02. Imagine it this way, we are not on land, we are in fact under an ocean of air which behaves in many of the same ways our oceans do. So when we cause tubulence and too much heating in that cycle we also damage the hydroshpere. them we are caught in the middle along with our toxins waste and other biohazards, that we have reaped upon ourselves.
