Does anyone know how a Groom can take the Bride's last name? Who should we speak to? What form do we need to fill out? How long does it take?

  1. Its the same process as if the wife were to do so.  You go to the court house, fill out the change of name request.  Some places do it for free if you show a marriage certificate, others dont.  I never changed my name, so I dont know how long it takes, but it would be the same as any other name change.

  2. The groom should just fill out all the name change forms that a bride would fill out. You can print out the forms for free at http://www.namethatbride.com (a site that's also good for grooms). Good luck!

  3. You need to take a finalized copy of your marriage certificate which will be available from your town hall a couple of weeks after the wedding.  Then bring it to your local Social Security office and reapply with a card for a new name.  After that you can get the name changed on your driver's license, and should also notify everybody else you do business with.  I just got married and had my last name changed at the Social Security office last week.

  4. It's the same as the bridge changing her name.  How modern of you.

  5. And once he's filled out all the paperwork be sure to take him to the OB-GYN so they can check out his brand new v****a. And then get to the store and stock him up with tampons and panty liners.

  6. Depending on where you live, whenever you take the certificate back to the courthouse (after the ceremony) that when they'll give you the option to change YOUR last name. Tell them instead that the groom is changing HIS name. It's just a piece of paper you sign, and it's all legal. I don't know why they wouldn't let him change his name, but i'd call the courthouse just to make sure.
