  1. rent + 1 month + deposit

do you have a phone or any furniture?

having a small pet is nice but not starting out

and just when you think you have it all covered there are the small things that pop up

i'm 42 and i'm still shocked at the bills that i have to pay

  2. phone bill

    house insurance

  3. It depends how shrewd you are about it.

I rented a room for $100 a week (in london so I translated the money for you) it included all bills, electricity, water, heating, council tax etc etc.

After a while I got cable internet installed for an extra $20 a month. I had a mobile phone and could also use Skype via the internet.

I only had to pay for food but I am a tight person so I bought it off supermarkets and cooked it myself.

I was the only one in the house that worked at home through the internet so I pretty much had the run of the whole house the whole day, I just stayed off other renter's way during the evenings and early mornings when they had their 2 minutes of free time off work and needed to use bathroom/kitchen etc etc.

  4. Rent

    electricity

    phone

    water

    gas (vehicle and/or utility)

    insurance (renters & vehicle)

    food

    clothes (when needed)

    car pmt (?)

    cable/internet (not necessity)

cushion (saving a little each month for emergencies)

When you have a roommate, no matter how close you both are, make sure you sign something together, as a safety for both of you.  If you each agree to pay half of everything, put it in writing and both of you have a signed copy.  Sometimes things happen as roommates that cause harshness between the two, and you can be left holding the weight of the bills.

    Good luck!!
