Name in the family?

In your opinion do you think that it's ok to name your baby something if your second or third cousin (I'm not sure exactly how I'm related to her) has that same name?

  1. I can almost guarantee that any name you name your child is already taken. Although most parents aim for originality when naming their child, some look for traditional names. It all depends on what your style is.

If you do decide on a name of someone you know you would, however, want to be sure that the person is a person your child would want to share a name with.

Example: Depending on your view..You probably would not want to name your child after Paris Hilton or Britney Spears or your "great aunt Milda who is the crazy in the family" LOL

  2. You can name your baby whatever you like.. wether its another name that someone already has or something unique. You can even use it as a middle name.. thats what people usually do.

Most people name their babies after someone that has passed, in rememberance of that person..

  3. That is not close enough to worry about.

Consider my problem, I have a son on the way.  Both my parents came from larger families and as a result I have over 70 first cousins roughly half being boys.  I see my cousins at reunions and holiday get togethers, and I'm not really close any of the male cousins.  As a result I've got names on my list that are the same as some first cousins.

The only thing I think you should try to avoid is naming your child a name that one of their first cousins has.  But, there are even exceptions to that.

  4. oh yeah there isnt a problem with that. i have the same name as my step-cousin and she was born 10 years before me. if you really love the name then name your baby what ever you want
