My son is now 14 years old and his mother and I split when he was 2. I have been paying CSA and up till 18 months ago was still in contact with him. My name was never put on his birth certificate and I would like this changed. How do I go about doing this or is it not possible now? Thanks for your replies.

  1. You'll need to see your solicitor to obtain legal parental rights. No birth certificate can EVER be changed, as it is an historical document, of which, the details were correct at the time of birth. There are other legal channels and documentation you can obtain to ascertain your parental rights, so nothing to be worried about - it just depends on how receptive his mother is.

  2. I'd go and see a solicitor if I was you, perhaps they could help.

  3. i think meme could be right go to see a solicitor just to be sure

  4. By not having your name on the birth certificate you have no parental rights over your son. See a solicitor.

  5. i dont think it can be changed now but if you can it would have to be the mother to do it i would have thought
