Name of a building toy that works quite like Lego?

I never had Lego as a child but I had another variation called "Lasi" or "Lassi" or something that sounds like that. You can build all sorts of things with it, like trucks, houses, swings etc. Its pieces come in the shape of H's and A's and just like in Lego, Lasi comes with two plastic men - one is dressed in a yellow top and green pants and I think his name is Toby, and the other in red and blue. My problem is that I can't seem to google up the toy - I think I got the spelling wrong. Anyone has any idea of this toy and how it is spelled?
